Payment by Bank Card:
For your security and ours, Stripe uses the -3 D SECURE- system What is 3D Secure? For your security and ours, Stripe uses the 3D SECURE system. 3D Secure, designed by Visa and MasterCard, is an international security protocol that aims to prevent the misuse of bank card information, for the benefit of the cardholder and the seller. This service strengthens the security of your online transactions by requiring authentication for each payment, thus guaranteeing that you are the legitimate owner of the card. This verification is carried out by entering a personal code during each transaction on partner sites. This protocol is known as "Verified by Visa" for Visa and "MasterCard Secure Code" for Mastercard. The Maestro and Solo systems have also adopted 3D Secure.
How does 3D Secure work?
1. Select the payment method by bank card
2. Enter your banking information in the payment form and validate
3. The information previously provided is transmitted to your bank
4. Your bank will send you a code (in most cases by text message).
5. Enter the code in the corresponding field and validate
6. Two scenarios are possible: if the code is correct, the transaction will be accepted and the buyer is redirected to the merchant's website. Otherwise, the transaction is canceled.
I am asked to enter a personal code for 3D Secure authentication. Is this normal?
Indeed, the essence of 3D SECURE is to ensure this security. Each bank has its own authentication methods: BNP Paribas: entering the customer's date of birth; and since July 2009, receiving a code via SMS. Crédit Agricole (including LCL): the customer uses a password that he established when he first connected. Société Générale: entering the customer's date of birth; and since September 2009, receiving a code via SMS. Banque Postale, Axa Banque and Caisse d'Épargne: the customer enters his date of birth. Crédit Mutuel and CIC: authentication via online banking identifiers, followed by entering a specific code from a "personal key card" (64-code grid where the correct code is selected according to the instructions on the site). BRED Banque Populaire: use of an Ipab authentication key in bank card format. Groupama Banque: the customer provides their name, home postal code and date of birth.
